President Carter said Tuesday the United States would cooper ate in some sort of "transitional arrangement" for governing Afghanistan if the Soviet Union agrees to withdraw its troops from that southwest Asian nation. The Chrysler Corp received S500 million in government- guaranteed loans Tuesday in a struggle for survival. U. S. Rep. John Jenrette of South Carolina appeared to win his bid for re-nomination in Tuesday's Democratic primary runoff. He had been campaigning under the weight of a federal indictment, resulting from the FBI Abscam investigation. The "new” disease of dogs, Canine Parvovirus, has been making the news in larger papers. Jerry L. Dorsam, DVM discussed the disease in an article in Monday’s Bulletin. This column will be carried each week in the Bulletin. The new fall schedule at Tryon High School has been completed. Students may come in the next two weeks (June 30 — July 11) Continued On Back Page New Church Sunday, June 22nd was the beginning of the Tri-City Mis sionary Church. The church is non-denominational and Rev. Jerry D. Boyd is the pastor. The church's name comes from the three cities — Tryon, Landrum and Columbus — and is presently meeting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Miller in Landrum. Mr. Boyd said that the ministries already begun include morning devotions on radio, rest home tape and visitation minis try and Cottage Prayer meetings every Friday at 7:30 in homes of sick and shut-in. On Sundays the church has Bible school at 10, worship service at 11 a m. and 7:30p.m. On Wed. there is prayer meeting at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday, Cottage prayer meetings at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Boyd, 34. is married and has three children Donna, age 11, Yvonne, age 7 and Amy. age 6. They sing together in the services. Mr. Boyd has been in the ministry for 7 years, starting out in evangelism, then serving as assistant pastor and now as pastor. He has been in radio work several years, starting with the late Dr. Oliver B. Greene of the Gospel Hour in Greenville, S. C. C. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Tamara Victoria, to Dennis ■ Wayne Barnes, son of Mr. and Mrs Wayne Barnes of Rt. 3, Gaffney, S. C. Miss Tipton is a graduate of iTryon High School, attended Southeastern College of Beauty Charole and Isothermal Com munity College. She is a .hair I dresser and make-up artist and is employed at The House of Stephen in Rutherfordton Mr. Barnes is a graduate of I Chase High School and is ’employed by Duke Power Co. The wedding is planned for August 30th at the First Baptist Church in Tryon. Little League Thursday 5 — Indians vs Red Sox 7 — Mets vs Orioles Campmeeting The annual summer camp- meeting is being held at the Full Gospel Wilderness Church, Lynn, June 28th through July 6th at 7:30 p.m. The services will be held under the big tent. There will be many special guest singers and speakers. The pastor- evangelist T. C. Case invites everyone. Reception Sunday A reception will be held in the Parish Hall in the Church of Holy Cross immediately following the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, June 29th honoring Dr. Dudley Stroup who has served as Priest-in- charge since the retirement of the Rev. Tracy Lamar last January 1st. Singing Saturday The Blue Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.
